The gritty treatment you have applied seems so well in keeping b/o the presence of the elderly gent with his walking stick easing his way along the forest floor.
Sounds a bit fanciful but perhaps you'll know what I am trying nit very successfully to say.

A change from the misty forest scene but equally effective.
Very atmospheric. The old man with his stick makes a very evocative image.
