A mono version of my last upload.
Very nicely done.
effectively converted, .. BW version sounds pretty more striking
brilliant detail and tones derek cracking light a belter nice one
a very powerful mono , great work
A lot stronger image in mono, Derek, oozes drama.
I know this place very well, all to often one of my golf balls would end up close by. An extremely good mono photograph full detail and great light.
Every bit as good as I expected from this image Derek, excellent processing adding the drama of monochrome when done properly.
I really liked the colour version but now I've seen the mono conversion I'd struggle to choose between the two This has so much drama and atmosphere and the detail and light are superb. A cracking image Derek.
I really like the mono version Derek - it's so full of drama, as mentioned above!
I thought it would convert well and it looks great, Derek.
The mausoleum looks very Masonic..is it?
Thanks everyone for an enthusiastic response. I have to confess to being very pleased with this shot not because I thinks it is one of my best but rather it was the result of a combination of conditions that I had planned and waited some time for . I always saw it as a mono but ideally to get the image I had seen in my mind I needed a combination of sun and cloud preferably on a windy day to achieve the movement in the sky without the need for a very long exposure. This location has a major restriction to photography in the form of a 10ft high security fence around the perimeter (about 30ft away from the Mausoleum) so the only clear view is through the bars. Even with my wide angle lens I was closer than I would have liked. I understand the need to keep the vandals away in what is a very secluded spot, after all it was the vandals who nearly destroyed this magnificent building but ...the fence is so ugly and completely ruins the place IMO. I have uploaded a shot taken which shows the enclosure so you can see what I am talking about.
And yes Gareth I believe there are strong masonic associations. There are symbols on every elevation.
The two images have merits on their own Derek
like them both so much
Great shot Derek! I love the processing and the mono suits it so well, great movement in the clouds which all adds to the image. It is nice to see the variant as this shows the work and trouble in getting the image you wanted, top skills and excellent work! Have my UA
Dramatic image Derek. Love the contrasting textures and the way the clouds echo the angular lines of the mausoleum, leading the eye up to the sky. Perfect in mono.
Nice one, veery ddramatic.
