Taken at the Cheltenham Literature Festival on Saturday. My idol, David Attenborough!
Incredibly grainy due to high ISO but I thought I would have a play with it to try to get at least one ok shot.
Converted to b+w via channel mixer (2 layers) and toned. Microphone cloned out. The original image is in the mods.
Details:
f5.6
1/500sec
300mm focal length
All comments/crit/mods welcome. Cheers.

I like it.I think the angle of his body within the shot creates a nice pattern of movement that is pleasing to the eye.
Allan.
tiz very grainy.
almost like newsprint infact
I thinkthe body language really carries this though - you've caught one of the most enthusiastic men in the country.... being, umm, ..... enthusiastic, and it really works.
the cloning on the mic... was it in his hand or on a stand - cause if it were in his hand you've done some real magic there!
it works for me !!!!! given the conditions I reckon you have done very well.
He's my hero too !!!!!!!!!
And mine.
Well rescued. Hard to believe that he is 79. Must be all that enthusiasm as Ade says!
I think I prefer the original. Not that what you've done is wrong. Might have a go at a mod.
I think 'tis great - so is David, if only more people could have his kind of understanding. =)
I think you did a fantastic job.. you caught the man's character in full bursting enthusiasm. Congratulations. Why don't you send him a copy, write a nice letter and ask him if he would let you photograph him. Stick your kneck out.. you never know.
PS.. Liked the rest of your work too.
Thank you for taking the time to go through my portfolio, when I have some time I will repay the compliment. ![]()
I wouldn't exactly say I 'know' David, but in another life he was my ultimate boss when we both worked at the BBC. He also lived nearby to me, and we used travel up to White City on the same tube sometimes. He would always smile. A lovely man, on and off screen.
Being a press photographer I would say that you have cought the man in action just as he is........ good on you you have every right to be happy with the result
