Here is the Cinnabar Moth (first one I have seen this year, and neither have I seen any caterpillars) which usually fly by day.
This one is presumably sleeping on then strawberry plants leaves.

The larvae over-winter, which is why you haven't seen any caterpillars as yet, the adults have just started to emerge along with the Burnet Moths, egg laying has already started, caterpillars should start to be seen in a couple of weeks....I know I'm an anorak ![]()
