Vicky, If that is at the very top of the plant, it can grow into a large multi- petal flower as much as five inches across.

I only discovered that recently. The majority of foxglove never get to that advanced stage. It may depend on super nutrient or fertilizer around the roots. I will upload a recent photo. TG

Ok, just uploaded the biggest foxglove blossom I have ever seen and I have seen plenty through the years.
Hope a professional gardener can explain why this foxglove is so multi-petaled and large. TG
