Well, as the owner of whippets, I had to comment on this one. I like the angle you've shot this at and the fact you have his absolute attention (you've got a great model there).
As for critique, I do wish his nose were more in focus by using a smaller apeture, but realise that indoors that wouldn't have been practical without flash, but on the other hand, the eyes are right in focus which is where you would want it to be.
The background isn't too distracting, but maybe a crop to both sides to make either a square or portrait format to remove some of the blank space. I look forward to more shots of Defer.

Another whippet owner here (of three). Our youngest has similar markings and is 11 mths old - we have had to buy another sofa as there isnt room on one for all of us
I agree with whipspeed - try a square crop I think it would work well.

Hello, Alex. I hope he enjoys his new home. I think your title is great. I'm pleased to see that you categorise this as humour/fun because that's just the way I see it. You know that the nose is out of focus, but the rest has good detail and colour. There is a lot of space either side that can be cropped away for better effect, and the darkness of the back of the head can be lifted to reveal the detail better. In my modification, I cropped to a square format, brightened the image, lifted the shadows for the back of the head, reduced the highlights for the front of the head, increased the saturation, then selectively sharpened just the eyes and whiskers.
Pamela.

Hi All,
Thanks for the constructive critique.
As you're probably aware the shot came straight from the camera without any editing, so i'm really pleased that people feel there isnt too much to be done other than a closer crop and minor touch up.
I'd love to have more of his nose in focus, but with the apature as was and a curious whippet sniffing the lens, it wasnt too easy.
As Defer is the newest edition to my family i'm sure there will be plenty of other pics to follow. I'm hoping to get some really fast action shots, so watch this space....
Thankyou all,
Alex
