Excellent photo and focussing, can even see the movement on the fingers i think.
Critique - well maybe he is just to centre frame and the whole trumpet could instead be included with him looking out the frame.
Also top left there is a dark diagonal shade of white making the picture look unbalenced.
Exposure seems fine for the face but maybe dome dodge/burn (can't remember which one - make it a tad darker) on the fingers would add some more impact.
I'll try a quick mod with googles Picassa...
