Thanks for all your good wishes yesterday my friends, last Saturday I had a Trip to this amazing place, next year if you are looking for somewhere different to visit I recommend this place, you also have the ruins of Roman town and fort near, below some info.

Dewstow House was built before l804, when John Proctor (d. l837) lived there. Dewstow Gardens were built after 1895 and buried after World War II. Rediscovery and large scale restoration of the gardens began in 2000. There is a labyrinth of tunnels interconnecting underground grottoes, ponds, tropical glass houses, rock garden and an alpine garden.

Imagine discovering a lost garden with tunnels and underground grottoes buried under thousands of tonnes of soil for over 50 years. Thatís what happened at Dewstow gardens. Built around 1895 the gardens were buried just after World War Two and rediscovered in 2000. The gardens contain many ponds and rills but interestingly a labyrinth of underground grottoes, tunnels and sunken ferneries. The rock gardens are made up of a mixture of real stone and faced stone using various types of Pulhamite.

From your description it seems there's as much to be seen underground as above in this site, and a place you could return to over and over again.
Your set here gives a flavour on what's on offer visually and it's a spot I could while away many an hour, I'm sure.
If I had to pick favourites, Trev, it would be V 2 and 4.
Very nice set documenting the place.
Ronnie.

Sounds a delightful pace and this set of excellence whets the appetite. V3 and V4 stand out for me. Imagination working overtime and I see an ancient looking face on the righthand side of V4!!!

A wonderful set of images which would take all day to comment on, but I'll narrow it down to,
choosing V1 and V2 for colour, love the fernery in V3 and maybe my favourite is V4 with the pool , it's overhanging rocks
and 'waterfall'. the 'fuschia's got me mystified in V7 - looks like it is in the rock pool.Love the sweep of the garden in V8.
V9 is most interesting and intriguing and the house so well composed in V10 with lovely sky.
Like the word 'rill' - reminds me of christening hymn "By cool Shalomn's (wrong spelling) shady rill, how sweet the lily grows.
