A close encounter with a Humpback Whale at Aukes Bay in Alaska. This is close to Juneau and the image was taken while hanging of the bow of a small boat which was bobbing up and down a bit. This one was heading staight for the boat and was just about to 'flip' it's tail fin before going down on a deep dive to capture Krill. It's difficult to show the size as there was nothing else close to give some scale. I would say this particular what had a fin span of about 8 to 10 metres. Beautiful and graceful animals
