This is really trawling, and I'm amazed at what I find sometimes - images I'd completely forgotten about, negatives that were never printed; stuff that's only now seeing the light of day, simply because I decided to scan everything in my collection, just in case ....
This dates from 1971 or so, shot on the Rollei, in an office I used to work in (well, I turned up, at any rate), somewhere in the saff of England, innit. Don't want to say more for fear of attracting the attention of the DP police.
Anyway, this isn't particularly special, but I love it for the expression on Doris' face - a mixture of bemusement, dreaminess, a realisation that she's just been caught on camera - I really don't know which description fits best. I kept the office clutter in the foreground because it helps to isolate the face. Not a terribly sharp image - split-screen focusing again - but hope you like it.

Ah the mixed delights of split-screen focusing...
They don't make Dorises any more, and they don't make offices like this any more. This is a delight in so many ways, beautifully composed, subject nicely isolated, in her own little world - and a bit of social history too.
Bill has just been gurgling contentedly over my shoulder, he is on his way.

Edit - the expression now in vogue is environmental portraiture. I bet Doris would find that hilarious.
Fabulous. Great expression, dof, balance (that figure in the background) - Doris was obviously senior, or what teaching staff at my first school in Newcastle knew as "chief clack".
There is far too much emphasis on ultra-sharp focus these days; some folks would be better off using razors instead of cameras. For me, character is far more important.
Please accept my U.A. (also as a proxy for Herself who allocated hers earlier this morning).

I believe I have encountered the target fly in an airport urinal, though not at Munich (Brussels, perhaps, or Frankfurt Hahn; definitely not Paris). The gents' in 'The Pilot' at Dungeness have little plastic football goalposts dating back to the last World Cup labelled something like 'Score for England and keep our floor clean' . . .
Moira now is now threatening to visit the gents' at Dungeness ![]()
Just seen the EC - brilliant, Pete gets it right sometimes! Many congratulations.
