I'm cycling around the world (current location, Kathmandu, Nepal), I came across this sand dune when I was cycling through the desert in Iran.

Great shot. I am so close and yet so far. I am only a few Km from the desert dunes but we are not allowed outside of the base gates.
Hi, thank you all for your comments.
Phil - thanks for the mod tip, it takes out the distracting scrub on the right side of the photo, I like it. You can follow my blog on my website: www.acousticmotorbike.com and there's lots of photo's on there.

Great first upload Aidan. I guess for most of us it's somewhere we'll never see for ourselves.
Looking forward to more.![]()

Nice image, even better with a simple center of interest - such as a small figure, bottom left third.
Brave man, I was asked to go to Iran a couple of years ago as a consultant - I worked in heavy industry. It all fell through due to politics, but I was told to be VERY careful with my camera amongst a host of other precautions.

Thanks all for your comments and feedback. I like both the mods and it's interesting the difference they make to the original photo.
Iran was a great place and I spent nearly three months cycling across the country. The people were very friendly, especially the women, who would wave at me all the time and stop and talk to me on the street. Very different from the view we get from the media.
