Thank you all for your very positive comments yesterday, at my age the last thing I want is nasty emails just for trying to help people improve their photography, I was thinking to be honest of leaving the site, but after yesterdays comments by you all I will continue to give comments and try to help people to improve! But still will not say a photograph is good if it is not.

Today some more Cactus and flowers grown in the Cactus house in Dyffryn Gardens.

Kindest regards

Trev.

A rather stunning cactus, Trev, and very well captured, as are this whole set. Glad you have changed your mind about leaving ePZ, we all seem to go through periods when we wonder what we are doing here, then things get back on an even keel and we wonder what all the fuss was about Smile Carol

I can't differeniate bewtween V1 & V2. It is lovely cactus and well composed image.
V3 - two flowers on diagonal, filling the frame beautifully.b/g leaves nicely defocussed.
V4 - this is the kind of flower I find least easy to compose - the largest bloom dominates quite nicely
with good detailin leaves and flower.
V5 - my favourite of this set - good composition with flower against dark b/g.
Cactus leaves and 'fringed' edges beautifully detailed.

V1 is wonderful with all that detail and the patterns of the spines.
I have learned a lot on this site, and critique is one of the very positive attributes of this site when it is given. I enjoy your comments and critiques. I quite agree, if you don't want to hear what others think of your photo, don't put it up in a public forum. Keep up the good work!

Think I prefer V 2 to V 1, Trev......not so sure the blue creeping in V 1 fits........V 2 seems to be more colour harmonious. But the patterns created by that alloe are wonderful and the details are so well captured.
Love V 3 and the orchid at V4 is beautifully captured.
Ronnie.

Not sure about V1 and V2 but only because I have just ditched one of these from my conservatory. Love that bright blast of colour in V3 and also that well captured orchid in V4.SmileSmile

Torn between 3, 4 & 5, but 3 wins just by a smidge on composition and colour for me.

Glad to hear that you have decided to stay.

An extremely impressive set of images Trev, Image Number II gets my humble vote simply because of the delicious striking colours.

When I saw V1 I thought we were in an aquarium with exotic plants waving and weaving around - and honestly Trev I've only had one glass of sherry!!

The 'aquarium' effect of v1 looks great to me Trev, and the plant has more space to breathe than in v2. 3 & 5 are close runners up, but not so keen on the bg of v4.

I have difficulties with choice, Trev...they all are perfect!Smile

Trevor. I was sad to hear that you had been thinking of leaving the site, but understand your feelings, I have considered going twice.
A great set. I see the difference in V1 (blue in background) and V2 (brown). but only a snapshotter would see this. Eric. Wink
