We took an early morning ride around the oldest parts of Bruges one chilly morning, and certainly needed the blankets we were given to put over our legs! It's really worthwhile though, and a planned stop takes place along route, in a lovely picturesque spot, for people who want to take photographs, Now who would want to do that?
The trip starts from The Market Place, for centuries, the most important Square in town. The foundations of the economic, political and social life were laid there. The Knights depended their titles of nobility, people dicussed about the Flemish textile industry and fought for freedom. The gallows and guillotine were there too. But there was also a 'freedom tree' which grew there.
Thankfuly though, the guillotine has long since gone, or I might well have fallen foul of it during my visit!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone, let's hope for better picture taking weather soon.

Lovely to see those carriages - they seem to suit the architecture and historical look of the city. Nice presentation here, John.

I love these carriages unfortunately I can't ride in them cos I am seriously allergic to horses. You've managed to capture a wonderful atmosphere with this Smile

A very handsome shot, John! I like how you've done a sweep of the square around that main carriage. And very interesting info you provided too Smile
