We went to Mossel Bay yesterday and on the way saw two Elephants standing near the road. This one was eating a stick of sorts.
V2 - Same Elephant different view.
Thanx so much for all the interesting comments and votes on my Tamarillo upload yesterday. They taste like a tomato just more tart and the pips are a bit hard for my taste Smile Great in stews and chutney or even jam - although my wife loves them raw.
A special thanx to Philip for his prized UA - I am honoured.

Wow Herman, I'm having a hard job getting my head round the idea of driving along and seeing an elephant standing right beside the road, can I assume they don't pose any danger? We think we have a problem with moose, but that pales a bit with this. Thanks for showing these two fine shots.
Rgds., Jim

Great captures and spectacular animals to see at the side of the road Herman, it's a lot more exciting than my roads we only see drunks and rabbits.

She is a beauty Herman and what a catch to find her.
I love elephants and it is nice to see them natural and not enclosed in the zoo.
Nice one…….I see I have some catching up to do. Now the grandson is back home
I should have more time. Apologies for the clicks instead……..

No 2 seems more pleasing to me Ashe is feeding and there is a bit more space to the left.
To great shot of his majesty, I wasn't aware you were so close to elephants!

Ok , I really like v2 very much. It is the bit of grass an the well chosen background that make the elephant stand out with all the detail.

I had the same reaction as Jim V.!
I can't imagine seeing an elephant by the road.....I would think that might pose a bit of a problem if they decided to cross in a hurry. I am amazed. How lucky you are to see such things.

Could they be Selati and Kidibone from Albertinias Garden Route Game Lodge? See here.
Or maybe they are Sam and Tsotsi at the Garden Route? See here.
Or perhaps they're simply in part of the Game Reserve.

A lovey shot of this giant of a creature Herman. I know they can get very roused but they always seems to me that left along they are quite amiable.

That is one welcome sight!
In London you might see a fox or a few rats, sadly to see an elephant we would have to visit the zoo...
Lucky you to see that... IB

How wonderful!!! Such a gorgeous boy (or girl of course) I am just mad about Elephants, more pleaseWinkWinkWink
