One more from the Battlefields, appropriate for today - as KevSB has already mentioned on his image..
On this day in 1815 at Waterloo in Belgium, Napoleon Bonaparte suffers defeat at the hands of the Duke of Wellington, bringing an end to the Napoleonic era of European history.
My thanks for your time, as always your thoughts/comments are very welcome.
Regards - Sarah J x
Another one bites the dust Sarah. Love the b/g action.
Original capture telling a story
Another fine capture, Sarah, and unusual too, as we don't often see 'dead' soldiers in images of these events!
Well composed image with the backdrop adding the perfect story behind the fallen
When the drummer falls, there is no one to coordinate the troops
This one is my favorite of the series, like the b/g, a great image, well captured.
He fell asleep 'cause he couldn't drum up the enthusiasm any more...(groan)
This too is my favourite from this series, Sarah. Foreground subject and lots of mysterious activity going on in the oof bg.
wow great shot like it. christine
Excellent arrangement, one of the best I've seen recently.
Looks like you spent a lot of time at low level Sarah, and once again, it really makes the shot. Very nicely done.
Great composition of this battlefied scene
Many thanks to all for your time and kind comments!
John/lonely_oryx thank you very much for your GEA, what a lovely surprise!
Have a good evening everyone!
Congrats on the GEA it really deserves it and more... Fabulous shot Sarah J
Looks like you had a super time at this event Sarah
The composition is perfect - congrats on the GEA!
congrats on your GEC another fine capture
Excellent capture Sarah. ......Sandy
looking at this I took mine at the same moment to your left sarah, I know you said you wanted to go to victory show, but have you tried Kelmarsh Festival of history, you may like that as it covers lots of periods, Its the main show in the uk, http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/daysout/events/history-live-kelmarsh-20-jul/
Thanks everyone, appreciated
Kevin, thanks for the link, I have wanted to do Kelmarsh for some time now but it always coincides with the W&P Show, maybe time for a change next year? We do have the Military Odyssey here in Kent which is similar I believe, covers many periods of History.. just difficult to find the time to fit them all in
Np , Kelmarsh is the Main event for us as it has the best parties and the biggest event in the uk. Just for a little information on your picture, the drummer is wearing a black armband, all the drummers on the field was wearing them in recognition of the tragic event that happened in London a few days before this to the drummer in Woolwich, something they was proud to do.
Thanks for the info Kev'. I didn't know that re the black armband, what a wonderful and fitting tribute to the young soldier so tragically killed
was he shot or had one too many......great shot as always.....Andy
