Amazing shapes and patterns. Makes a good black and white, you could tweek in curves to give a touch more tonal range. But good choice of image.

Compelling to look at. The range of tones is great, giving a lot to keep you there. Composition is spot on.

Pavel,

Welcome to epz, and what a stunner for you to start off with! An amazing point of view and generally gorgeous tones in black and white.

I guess I'm not totally in the mainstream here judging by the fabulous comments you have deservedly received already, but pushing beyond the initial wow factor there are a couple of things that concern me slightly, or at least spoil my ultimate enjoyment of this picture of Black Rose- and you have asked for critique....

The main issue is where the lines of the heart shape in the lower right quarter are broken- almost as if this was a poorly stitched panorama. I don't know the shopping centre, so maybe that's exactly what it is, but it doesn't look right and it grabs my attention every time.

On a much lesser level, it's a shame the bottom left corner is so bright- again this tends to draw the attention slightly which wouldn't happen if it was just a little darker. The bright lights up the left side of the structure I'm not so worried about personally, but still wish they were just a touch less bright.

Anyhow, despite my comments, I do adore the composition and the black and white treatment. I'd vote for it too if it wasn't in crit.

you have wanted critique in this image. i really do not know why. it is a completely mature photography. no doubt about it. but i think the highlighted part of the image could have been slightly adjusted. i have uploaded a modification. i have made curves adjustment, adjusted brightness and contrast. Hope you like it.

A warm welcome to EPZ Pavel on behalf of the Critique Team.

I would just like to add my praise to the many positive comments you have already. It's a very intriguing photo and you could spend ages looking at it and exploring all the shapes. I agree with Malcolm about the bright area in the left bottom corner which tends to draw the eye but apart from that small point I don't have anything to say other than very well done and look forward to seeing more of your work.

Best wishes

Catherine

hello Pavel,
welcome to epz and if your first upload is anything to go by, im eager to see more, its a very imaginative subject taken from from a dynamic viewpoint.

the composition works well pointing from the bottom right hand corner and the mono conversion was a great choice.

i have just one minor concern and that is the bright area bottom left corner is a little distracting and pulling the eye down there. as it stands im not sure if it would be improved by a little carefull burning in this area. an alternative would be to crop away to leave a square format. a minor s tweak in curves could also boost the contrast and give even more impact

nothing much to worry about although i suspect it would take the edge off a print. a great first upload,

best regards,
Phil
