50 caliber machine gun on preserved US lorry. Shot on Bridlington sea front. Image exposed for original sky, which was clear blue. Contrast increased to black silhouette and selected, copied and pasted onto new sky. Edges cleaned up and areas cloned.

Does it look 'real' or contrived. One of the straight originals has been accepted by a library, but I thought this ha more impact and potential story to it?

EOS 7D, 28/135 IS USM. 1/800 @ f11 as I remember.

I think it work and like the sky and use of the shiloutte, just find that the addition of the bright moon takes your eye, once seen you keep looking at it.
Might be worth toning it down or not having it

Richard

A great composition, however just a little over saturated with colour for my personal liking, however I do think that you have caught to silhouette of the 50 cal to perfection.

Sky replacement is very well done Paul.

I agree with Rich re the Moon, - that looks a little contrived, even if it is the real Moon, so removed in a mod. Ive also cropped a little from the left and bottom, added space at the top.

regards

Willie

That moon shouldn't be there? Not sure where it''s come from. Not on the original?

I think it's a great subject for this type of manipulation, the silhouetted shapes look good against that colourful sky.
To me, it looks real, I can easily believe you took the shot like this.
I'm just wondering about the format. I know nothing about such guns, but it is pointing up towards the sky and I wonder if it would look good with more sky at the top (room for it to fire intoGrin?), not necessarily portrait format, but something similar.
Pamela.

I thought that looked too small for a moon Paul, I wondered if it was an error but then I really knew you would not have uploaded this with a dust mark on view.

Composition is good and reminds me of twilight in the war (not that I was there of course? but from films and pictures) it is very emotive. Very good work.

I came back to this shot Paul, and agree you have done a good job on the sky manipulation, which is terrific colour. The silhouette gun works very well in unison. It shows the beauty of nature and the beast of war! Banehawi has done a nice job of his Mod, and the white spot, or moon could have been a edit clone tool slip? regards james Smile
