Even using a shutter speed of 1/500 this photo was still blurred, But crashing of the rally track at 60mph into the trees dosen't help!
Any suggestions on how this could of been avoided apart from using a higher shutter speed?

Hi Jon. I think this is a good photograph and isn't let down too much by a little blur. Are you certain it is blur and not slightly out of focus, I can't tell from the photograph? Perhaps better panning technique is the solution to keep your subject sharp(ish) and totally blur the background.
I feel the blurring adds to the impact and does help convey the feeling of speed and action. The important thing is you were in the right place at the right time and have captured a good action pic. You have some other promising photographs in your portfolio too.
Your photography has improved greatly since you first joined the site and no doubt you will have learned much in a short space of time. Keep taking photographs, best way to learn. Many members appear to prefer tech talk which has its merits but I doubt they will progress so quickly. For me, photography is about producing photographs, end of story.
