I have been reading a very interesting thread on the subject of exposing to the right of the histogram.
There are some very good links in there with examples so I thought I would give it a try.
I hunted around my archives to try and find a shot with the desired histogram, this is about as close as I could get. (must be better than I thought at getting exposures "correct"

I took the basic RAW file, processed it in ACR as recommended and I was amazed at just how much improvement could be obtained a shot I had left as being too "overexposed".
With a bit more work in Elements 5, this is the end result.
I am not posting this for clicks or comments on the shot itself, just as a real world example of how the technique can be used to good effect, but please feel free to comment on the difference from the original.
I will post screen dumps of the unprocessed RAW file and one of the processed file as versions so you can see the various stages.
Thanks for looking. Give the thread a read. Very enlightening, if you'll pardon the pun!

Great result! Not at all overcooked but has so much more punch that the original. Nice work ![]()
Thanks Gill, and thanks too for taking the time to comment.

Just found this image from the Expose To The Right thread. Another fine example of how the method works!
I'm still a bit of a novice and I thought that you could recover more info from an underexposed RAW shot, but reading about this method has opened my eyes to the possibilities of recovering more from my overexposed shots now!
I'll be scrolling through my archive shots when I get the time. I knew there's a reason I keep all my RAW shots and never delete anything!
Thanks again for a great example.
Chris
