Taken a couple of weeks ago - 2 shots stitched. Yes the light really was like this although not for very long. Ambleside nestles under the embrace of the Fairfield Horseshoe - a wonderful walk if you ever get the chance.

I've just looked at my own pic here and seen a halo effect around the fell - is that the case or have I been looking at it too long?!

Possibly a halo, more noticeable on the left between Nab Scar and Heron Pike, although it could just be clouds hard to tell because there is so much colour variation, i like the composition and detail in this though.
