I was missing from the site yesterday As i was the The Baltic in Newcastle. The previous evening Martin Boyce was adjudged the winner of the Turner Prize 2011. His work together with others was exhibited at the Baltic,
On a different floor one of my images was also being exhibited as winner of a recent competition. He received £25000.00 I received £500.00.
Whilst I was there I was invited to Photograph Martin But I wanted a North East slant on the image so today I show my effort with Martin being rather insignificant in the frame with the Millennium Bridge forming the backdrop.
Did I enjoy the Exhibition...Well not really as my liking of the arts is a little more traditional but I could be swayed for £25000.00

As long as it was rude Dougie I wouldn't mind. Thank you.

I could be swayed for £500.00, Danny, but it would be cheaper just to open the bridge ![]()
Bill
Thought I recognised him. You've done rather well here, a direct personal portrait but one that's part of a bigger picture. You did win the 'People' section of the Reflect comp, after all.
Moira
Many congratulations on your win, never mind Martin's!!! ![]()
This is a fine image and I am sure Martin will like it!
Carol
Great portrait and mine is a large whiskey.
I once entered a competition where the first prize was a fortnight for 2 in Kashmir. I came 2nd and won £5 worth of film!
500 quid is not to be sneezed at Danny.
At a rough guess,that's about 150 plus,pints of Guinness !!
I wished this was in Edinburgh,
I would have taken him down to the Dockers Club to get his pic taken.
250 grand at a rough guess is 83,000 plus,pints of Guinness !!
Good shot.
Mick.
Hearty congrats, Danny. A well thought out portrait in a verfy suitable setting and comp.
You will link to or post your winner???
Malc

Quote: Congratulations!! £500 isn't to be sneezed at!!! Very well done - and a great portrait too! Can you please let us know where to see your winning image??? ![]()
Ann
Ann of you Google... Port of Tyne .. Then Reflect awards 2011 then The ..People section. The photograph in itself isn't wonderful but it suit the category in which it was entered.

Unfortunately My wife likes expensive jewellery and I had a lens repair bill yesterday amounting to £120.00. I might just have enough left to buy a Christmas pudding.
Danny
Congratulations!!!
I felt the same when I sold my first picture... Bu have never won an exhibition so re congratulations.
As to your portrait and your view on the exhibition, I honestly prefer your views and your picture. Modern art is not my thing, unless it is a sculpture by MickB..![]()

For a moment I thought you said a sculpture OF Mick and I thought oh she must have gone wrong in her mind.
Danny
I thought it was a picture of Paul O'Grady.
Congratulations on the competition win.
