I was inspired by the BBC's three excellent programmes on South Luangwa - Countdown to the Rains - to upload this image of a female leopard which was taken in the Nsefu sector, the place where the programmes were filmed. She was quite content to sit there while we watched from our vehicle - it was 16.41hrs and getting dark already and I see I took this handheld using ISO 2000, so I was lucky to get anything.
Thanks for looking and for any comments and/or criticisms.
Ann

What a super portrait shot of this leopard, Ann: fine detail captured and that penetrating gaze has been recorded so well too.
There's such good light in the eyes too despite the light fading.
At ISO 2000 I might have expected some noise, esp. in the background area, but I can see no evidence of such whatsoever.
So your Canon 60D in your hands is delivering the goods beautifully.
R.

You've got me there - I've no idea... I'll have to check. Smile I probably ran it through some sort of denoise process, but I can't remember which (I processed it a few weeks ago now) - either in Lightroom 5 or in Topaz Denoise.

Absolutely stunning big cat portrait, Ann. My word. The colours and detail are superb and the background is so clean for ISO 2000!!

One of the best photographs I've seen in a long time. To me this is National Geographic kind of good.

Major kudos on this SmileSmileSmileSmile

Lovely image and well done with the 100-400 I had two first was faulty the second I had to give up, it was very sharp but very heavy and I foundmyself struggling. But a really great shot and one that was worth waiting for.
