really beautiful seascape, the sky lends istelf to a Turner sea, the framing of teh boat to left balances the shot well with the city scene centre/right. all in all a well balanced shot, woul dbe nice larger to see more detail of teh cityscape
I've just come back from NZ Pete, so if this is a recent shot it looks like the fine spring weather I enjoyed is continuing.
Those clouds look lovely and fluffly. I am sure you have chosen right to go for a letter box type format here. It is usually good to have something of interest in the foreground but here I think the boat on the left rather overpowers the city scene. I am assuming that the cityscape is the main point of the shot but the boat competes rather with it. I agree with Adrian that it would be good to see more of the detail of the city.
But a nice shot
Great shot indeed
I'm a person struggling with choosing what makes a good picture but would like to give my opinion so take it with a pinch of salt lol.
The picture to me seems to be about the big wide sky over the city location and in that you have got it spot on, In my case i find the large boat distracting as it draws me to the left side of the picture made worse by the strong bold blue colour.
The Colours and lighting all seem good to me for the skyscrape and think it is great record shot of the city on a fine day, it certainly give you the feel of how big the city is. I would have taken exactly the same shot as you did btw.
As I said this is my own opinion and the comments are to improve my own photography by questioning what others do.
I agree with all of the comments above and I would add that the other problem with the boat whether moving or not is that it is facing out of the image rather than into it.
Also the boat is what my eye is drawn to and really the main part and most interesting part is the cityscape. The boat forms a bit of a visual barrier to the rest of the image.
The sky is wonderfull and really work well with the cityscape, I just hope that you have some shots without the boat in.
Thanks for all your comments, you,ve made me think again about the boat!
