First propper butterfly session of the year yesterday due to commitments over the last few weekends. The Orange Tips have just started to emerge here, and being a mix of sunshine and cloud yesterday they could be quite easily found in the sun and then quite easily photographed when a cloud came over Smile

Here's to more fun times ahead!

Very beautiful close-up. Stunning detail and colour.
Steve.

A cracker to start your season. Do they get the orange tip at a later stage or is it hidden by the folded wings?

I have my newish 105 macro ready and am determined to bag a few this year....if they approach this good I will have cracked it.
Only seen an express train Brimstone so far...mind you never saw 1 last year.

Nice one.

Dave, The orange is on the upper sides of the wings... you can sort of sdee a hint of it coming through in this shot. I'll show off the upper side in the next upload Smile

Super shot. Your have framed this Orange Tip perfectly.

Warm wishes, Iain.

I've been teased by an Organge Tip this morning - I've been cleaning up outside and it kept fluttering by, trying to tempt me to fetch the camera. I did watch it, but it really wasn't going to settle down.

You've caught this one brilliantly, gorgeous colours.

Lovely shot John! Your trademark clarity back into action...

... your Sigma must have needed a good dusting off... it's been a while!

Actually this is a Green-Tip butterfly... Anthocharis verde... sorry to be picky... but you can tell by the distinct lack of orange on the wings... Wink ha ha!

Those of you who might take me seriously would be mistaken!

Cheers,

Tim
