Meet Robert. He is a famous local figure. You can find him selling the most delicious fresh crabs at Smugglers Cove, Flamborough.

Magda has photographed him on a number of occassions and she broke the ice the first time we met him. He is extremely fond of her and the two of them chat for ages. She now knows several of the family too, all fisherman.

I wanted to show Robert's beautiful blue eyes, sea weathered face, the layers of clothing thrown on, (even in summer he sits next to a fire). This portrait is my tribute to him.

I am passionate about photography and especially portraiture, so I put my heart in this. Hope it shows.

Was going to mention the fact he is missing the top of his hat, but the more I look at it, the more the crop draws you to his eyes!

Nice one.

Thats for the comments. The crop was carefully considered. The hat is completely in on the original neg.

It definitely shows Paul. This is a really excellent portrait. Those eyes are something else, in fact they were the first things I noticed, which I guess was the point.

Great job.

Nice but I think his characterful face would also come out well in black and white perhaps with the contrast pushed a little.

Lovely shot Paul. You've caught his character wonderfully well. He looks as if he's just about to say something to us.
