I'm amazed that we both posted so close and with such similar compositions, from different parts of the country.
All the very best Ade,
Dougie
Very dramatic Ade. All those different strips of land and road converging in the distance adds such a strong perpsective. The cloud formation also helps pull the eye into the shot. Even better IMO if the field on the right was full of rape too ... perspective plus symmetry would be a heady mix. I'd do a mod and try it out but I'm at "work".
I'm one of those people who extend their tripod legs fully on occasion Paul ![]()
I cropped the shot to the vertical centre went sthrugh the end of the road - so I think it's the yellow that's optically heavier giving that impression.
cheers folks
Thumbnail just jumped out of the page at me, great perspective, love the vanishing point
and the contracst between the rape seed on the left and the ploughed field on the right. I like the height you have used to help emphasise the length of the road, so many people would have gone low and created a tunnel. Great shot ![]()
Cheers everyone
this one was all about the sky for me - everything else just leads you to it
This is surely digitally manipulated (and I don't know where tweaking brightness, contrast, saturation etc stops and manipulation starts) but I've never seen a local threatening sky like this Adrian... The impact is strong, the image good, am I wrong in my interpretation?
It's excellent work, I just want to understand what has (or has not) gone on!
Mike
Mike - there is some magic here, but too much to explain really. It's not as manipulated as you think though, have you ever used filters? 5 stops of ND grad and you get this effect
cheers everyone
Thanks Adrian - I've not used filters in recent decades (perhaps avoided them) but maybe the time is right to start experimenting - this effect demonstrates the opportunity that I'm missing!
Mike
