A slightly different version of one I posted a couple of days ago. I thought there was too much background in the end on the first one.
I still like the way the light has caught the petals and made them look so soft.
Hope you like it too....:o))

Very well exposed central section with superb detail in the backlit petals. I like the balance too. Great shot. One change... could you make the background a smoother gradation? There are a few areas where you can almost see a line as the tone changes. Not sure if it's lighting shadows or digital processing.
I think its the light making the petals semi transparent for me. Super close-up

Ohhhhhh........... just got in from work to a nice supprise!!!
Thanks for the EC Pete. You are right about the background, I did try to make it smoother in Photoshop but ended up bluring the edges of the petals as well. Is doesn't look as bad in a better quality image when you print it though!!
The flower is lit from behind (left as you look at the pic) with a halogen lamp and lit from above with another halogen lamp to pick up the center of the flower. The camera was set to Tungsten to make the background look blue. Believe it or not its actually glossy photo paper!!
Thank you for all your comments...... Emma :o))
Beautiful, well done on the EC, much deserved. K.
It's a beautiful shot! Brilliant composition and light.
Regards
Rui
Well done to keep the highlights under control. Digital is a sod for blowing highlights unless you are really careful
