The same yard that produced The Angle Of The Dangle contained a number of decaying tractors. This weary old Fordson Major sat atop a hummock at a wonky angle of its own (check it out in John's image here ); despite my best efforts it refuses to straighten without my cropping off some of its ageing beauty so I've had a play with it instead, which also removed the colourless and mostly featureless sky from my original.

Don't forget my ageing beauty, please ![]()
What I find interesting about the increasing number of ''rust'' images that are being posted on this site,is the fact of the additional added elements that I come across. !!! For this one it is the discolouration of the metal around the radiator grille. In the many years that this tractor has seen service, there would be a build up of heat from the radiator. This in turn would harden and temper the metal, which would give it some protection from the rust.At its highest temperture, the metal takes on a dark blue colour. This can be seen on the inside of the radiator at the right hand side.It will be many years yet before rust is seen on here !! Whatever the material the logo badge is made off,it is an excellent conductor of heat. The grille itself has been subjected to high tempretures, but it has not effected the badge. An enamel badge I fancy !!!
A red hot image here Bill.
Mick.
Well we've had the science from Mick, the context from John, and the character reference from Ian, so I can only add that it works very well isolated from its background. The black makes that blue really jump off the screen!!!
Very effective shot Bill.
Helen
