Continuing the search for the perfect mushroom. This one was growing low down in the forest with an earth bank behind.

Delicate in this light. Lovely image! JNC
Quote: How did you light this, was it underneath somehow? Anyway its great.
Thanks for asking Jacqui - it is all natural light shining down from the forest canopy above. The mushroom is translucent and the light partly passes through it. Exposure was 10 seconds at f32. My only worry was that a breath of wind would move the mushroom - thankfully this time it didn't.

This is just perfect. To get this result with the sigma lens is just magnificent. I have the same lens but always feel that some of my images are a little soft. This is is just so crisp. This is hard to achieve because I now know how small these little mushrooms are!!!!
Worth every click IMO.

I think I am just lucky with my Sigma lens - my son has the same one and can't get anything sharp, especially macro shots, so I think there may be inconsistencies in the quality of these lenses. My one has been used so much that one of the teeth in the focussing mechanism has broken off and is rattling around inside but I am worried that if I replace it I will get one that does not give me the same sharpness.
Phil.
