Taken in New Zealand, Feb this year. Unfortunately it was impossible to get close to the glacier as another tourist had been killed a few weeks earlier posing against the face of the glacier and was crushed by several tons of ice so we were held about 500m away. This was a very strange area for me with no soil and rock that had been uncovered less than 100 years ago. Unfortunately the glacier is in rapid decline. Unfortunately the small upload size takes away much of the "beauty" of the image.

A power image hinting of the forces of nature. On the USA side of the Silver Skagit Valley just south our Canadian border, the extremes of daytime sun baked heat and frigid night cold causes the black rock faces to explode in the early morning with the sounds of thunder and the crashing of rockslides. Hard on the nerves while first time camping up high there. TG
