Another set of images from Shuttleworth Military Pageant Air Show,Old Warden, Bedfordshire
This plane is the T-28 Trojan manufactured by North American Aviation
Originally built as a trainer, had an 800HP Radial Engine & 2 bladed propellor.
A number of these planes were purchased for the French Air Force (Armee de l Air) &
modified by Sud Aviation.
They changed the engine to a 1425HP Radial with a 3 bladed prop.
Added hard points on the wings to take Bombs/Rockets & included 2No 50 Calibre machine guns &
armour plated areas for crew protection.
These planes were then painted in desert camoflage & named "Fennec" (which means Desert Fox in English.)
The Fennecs were used for counter insurgency in the Algerian War of Independance in the late 1950s
Thank you for your C&Cs on my previous upload "Avro Lancaster" much appreciated
