Fruit Beetle. Hi everyone I hope I am keeping your interest by showing you some of Africa’s nature , as most seemed interested in the beetles I uploaded I thought I would show you all a little more. Today’s Beetle was also caught on the fig trees around 30 mm in length but the girth is very deep. Un like the green beetle from the other day this type does not scrape the surface away but rather bore’s a hole into the fig itself ,He does seem to have claw type feet with two sharp spikes for gripping onto the fruit, I did not find many that were not embedded in the figs with the whole head.
V1. Beetles head totally embedded into the fig itself
V2. His wings going as he takes to flight
V3 the best I could do to show the entire Beetle, as he is unfolding his wings
Enjoy your week ahead and thank you for looking…John

What wonderful markings this colourful chappie has, John, and he's certainly enjoying tucking into that juicy figSmile Excellent captures, with V.3 being my favourite. Carol

Having the fly at the rear of this monster in v3 helps in giving the viewer a sense of scale! Good captures again John.

I hate these beetles with a passion John Smile They not only destroy one's fruit but also flowers - they especially love to feed on our Wisteria !!

Stunners all three of them - your images not the beetle John!
You get more than your 'five a day' finding one of these in your fruit! Wink
