I have been trying to get to grips with action shots and know that there is an art to it so advice and comments welcome. This was Digger having a mad five minutes that usually lasts for hours! Thanks, Sylv.

Wow what a capture Sylv, fantastic one of Digger
Thanks Hermin and Char, I would have used reels of film trying to get anything like this so I am liking digital very much. Sylv.

Great capture, Click
Really great shot. Love it. John
Not sure what advice you would want. The only thing I would say about this is Digger appears to be running uphill due to the angle of the blur (he may have been I don't know)
The secret with these shots is to practice a lot. Since you do not have full control of the shutter speed on your camera you seem to have choosen a good mode, though normally as you want a slow shutter speed rather than to freeze the action there may have been a better choice.
Main technique is to follow the action so that you are keeping the object in the viewfinder and then to press the shutter. This means it is a continuous motion as you should continue to pan after the shutter has been pressed. To give a sports analogy like the follow through of a good putter, you do not stop when you hit the ball.
So all in all a good shot, in PS I would just clean up the couple of marks top right of the image.
Try to take a number of images, because as with my recent shots of the buzzard where you can not guarantee the wing position with digger you will get different leg action. Some will look better than others.
THanks for all your comments and advice. Especially to Hermin and Cheryl for taking time to posting your modifications.Sylv.
Hi Sylv, great shot of digger, looking at his speed are you sure he's a terrier & not just a short whippet?
Great shot of a sprinter dog. Good face also.
He has a plan and nothing stops him.

This is a great movement shot, I have tried many tomes with my dogs but never managed anything as good as this
