Not been around much lately,I have been rather poorly & really wanted something different to get my teeth in to.

So...I borrowed this lovely glass chess set from a colleague at work, initially wanting a certain image for one of the competitions at the Camera Club I belong to & the day progressed from there Smile
I did read a nice tutorial by Pete (I found it after I had finished messing about Sad ) which has inspired me to do yet more.
Half of the pieces are clear glass & the other half are ground glass, the board is glass too.

Lit with a small torch to try & isolate the 2 frontmost pieces, levels adjusted & converted to B&W....I'm rubbish at B&W stuff,so I am determined to get to grips with it this year !

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas & New Year....I know,I know ...but it's better late than never Wink
Thanks for dropping by.
Janet xx

I'd say you got a firm grip on B&W now. I love the light play in this shot. Nicely done.

I have the same set and never thought to photograph it.
I like the composition, leads in from both sides culminating in the middle which works. Not too keen on the grainyness of the ground glass and the B&W conversion looks ok to me

Thanks all.

Come on I.G. get the set out & get it done !!! I liked the effect of the light on the ground glass better than the clear tbh, much more even light & no blobby bits Wink

Adrian,Fran & Les,thanks for the well wishes,I am almost better...Les,you needed to be there...I lost my voice for a week...hell it was quiet in my house !!!!! can you imagine ??....on second thoughts I guess you couldn't imagine that huh ? Wink
I'm not fibbing, honest,I find B&W conversions are very hit & miss with me...I need to be far more consistent.I wish I did have a grip on them Walter...note to self..must do more B&W Wink
