Garba is a folk dance of Gujarat. It is an exhausting, circular form of dance around a lamp or picture of the Mother Goddess Amba, performed by ladies (and men nowadays)to the beat of a drum, that gets faster progressively. The word Garba comes from the word Garbha Deep meaning a lamp inside a perforated earthen pot.(from the net)
