Manila, Philippines. July 4, 1961.
Accompanied by General Courtney Whitney (right) General of The Armies, Douglas MacArthur starts his march to The Luneta (Now Rizal Park) for joint Independence Day celebrations. He came to The Philippines to visit old battle sites. While I was unaware of it then, he was making his last good-bye to a nation he held in his highest esteem. This was the only shot I could take of him under favorable lighting. The crowd following him swamped me, and I could only tail behind them.
