At Auchandrain museum they have a group of gallic singers singing historic working songs while "waulking" or beating the tweed cloth.
I used a long shutter speed hand held and allowed the singers movement to give the impression of ghostly images still haunting the old homesteads.

Well executed. Long shutter speed used to good effect.

A strange effect, but the sense of the scene is there.

I like the effect used here and the idea. For me it would be a stronger composition without the brightness of the fire drawing the eye away from the main scene.

Thanks for all the comments.
I did try cropping out the fire but it left the image looking bare. I wanted to convey the idea of the "ghosts" in an ordinary simple dwelling room, without the fire it looked more like a prison cell.
Adrian.

I've just discovered this shot. I think your execution of it is superb. I really like how you have managed to convey, in what is a still shot, such movement and life.

The use of long shutter speed is genius. Evocative and effective, Jacqui Smile
