I don't mind the fact that she's looking away, in fact I think it gives the image a feeling of spontaneity.
It's got a very orange look to it which I suspect is down to the shot having been taken indoors without a flash and the white balance needs adjusting.
The biggest problem here is the noise. I've just run this through Lightroom and it cleans up nicely so don't be disheartened. There's a really god shot in there. It just needs a little help!

Hope this helps.

Bren.

All been said above. Bren has loaded a terrific mod that shows the potential of the shot, - Ive taken it and added some more contrast and sharpening.

Mod 2 is best, but the original has charm. It's different and the grain helps i think.

Having said that, that is still a lot of grain for ISO800, but I think your camera is a bridge camera, so it will be due to the tiny sensor. My 40D is virtually grain free at ISO800, the 7D is grain free.

I love both of the mods and the candidness of the original but the original is very orange and not just her hair etc. The two mods are still a bit too redish as well for my liking so I tried a mod of my own.

I adjusted the white balance in Camera Raw then reduced the red channel in PhotoShop then painted the hair back through a mask. I then reduced the noise and hopefully her skin is a bit more skin coloured now. I also lightened her teeth slightly as well.

The image is very noisy and Paul has explained about the small sensor etc.

Hope this helps
