OK folks, just a silly set today. Christmas cake doesn’t last long in our house. The diet starts tomorrow. (That’s the story of my life...)
These were taken over the last 10 days, in very varied natural light conditions. (The last two were taken yesterday when the weather was particularly grim). I’ve evened out the tones a bit but didn’t want to fiddle with them too much, so there’s some fluctuation.
Incidentally, the tray cost 20p in a jumble sale about 25 years ago, and No, Mick, you can’t have it...
Thanks for looking,
Moira

a great set of images Moira, I wasn't expecting the last one....funny ![]()
I daren't have one because I'd eat it all, it's bad enough with chocolates and Xmas pudding.
Chris.
This is brilliant! Loved the sad face at the end. Ingenious!

Perfect fun - and you've made me want to go brew another cup of coffee! The ending to the cake was the best bit of this series - nice touch.

MOIRA-you just know me too well now!! As soon as I saw the thumb,my eyes were drawn to the circumference of the tray, made up of all these lines. And what is your BG? Is it a table or your garden paving? Whatever it is you can keep your cake and I will have a slice of that!! The geometry of this image allows it to be cut into four equal segments(just like a cake). Each segment would be an image in its own right. They would be pure linear images with the cherries and greenery being additional colours which would also mimic the curved outline of the tray very nicely indeed. This is a classic case of having your cake and eating it too.Colour and detail are excellent here which all makes for a rather outstanding image.Well done Moira.
Mick.
a great shot and wonderful narrative. i always have to make two cakes as we always eat the first one way befor christmas
Hello again, and thanks to everyone who has been this way.
Proz, this is (highly alcoholic) fruit cake. Traditionally it's covered with marzipan and sugar icing, but we're not keen on the icing. So I use just marzipan and then decorate with nuts, crystalised fruit or whatever grabs my fancy. This year it was cherries and rosemary, which incidentally gave the marzipan a wonderful scent.
As I have explained to Mick, the cake is sitting on a plate, the plate is sitting on a tray (and the tray was sitting on our lawn). Men...!

Great set of shots.
Quote: These were taken over the last 10 days
Are you sure Moira. LOL
Andy
It might last longer with sprigs of holly on it Moira. At least it would take longer to remove and get to the good bit.
Have a tasty New Year,
John ![]()
Moira an inspired photgraphic journey and a beautifully decorated cake - so simple, imaginative and effective.
Regards, Mike
This really made me smile (and hungry), what a novel idea and so well presented.

Oh yes, this is what happens to my cakes too, but it doesn't take them 10 days to disappear. You sure this one needed that long?
Lovely Santa face at the bottom of the tray! ![]()
