Yet another stunner Tim!

I hardly ever see butterflies feed on those flowers! Just one Green Hairstreak and Eastern Marbled Whites I think in all my visits.

Thanks John, this was taken on the edge of the road near the field of wild sage where we've been several times (tall trees around). I also took the previous shot there, I'd say there were about 5 or 6 species feeding on these flowers at the time.

What happened to your travels this year? you could always still head over! Smile

Cheers,

Tim

Great image, sharp and clear, the sun shines through the butterflys wings. How did you get so close?

Tim - Ended up taking a trip to Portugal end of May as sue had a week's holiday to use up and I had some vouchers to practically pay for all of a package tour for a fortnight so we're off to Crete end of September. I was set to make one of tro trips to Provence like last year in April/May and had provisionally booked with L'Orée du Bois for last week April and first 2 weeks of June, but then someone asked in February about going fishing in Norway, which normally would be well and truly booked up by then. It turns out there was still space, so went for that which due to car hire issues meant I had to make it a 10 day trip leaving me with just 3 days holiday spare - not enough for Provence this year unfortunately Sad

I love how this is backlit, superb image indeed,

john.
