Amazing shot v1works best for me
Wonderful light. I think out of the two I prefer the warmer V2. Also I think the sky looks a bit more natural on V2 (on my screen anyway).
Thanks Cliff. The sky was changing by the second and was murder to process as it contained both hot and cold. As I recall I was freezing and wet
As usual I'd have to sit on the fence, Alun. The sky in v2 does look more natural but I much prefer the greens and the greater contrast of v1. The light probably is quite realistic in v2 but the colours are a bit too red for my taste. v1 has the impact, v2 is softer and closer to reality.
(does there need to be a comparison, keep both as versions, I'm sure there'll be a bit of a split vote)
Hard to comment on something one has never seen-- both image work for different reasons!
V2 for Alun - the depth is better IMHO.
V2 for me as I must be a light person
Brings out the distant mountains a tad more
This for me is stunning...
I too must sit on the fence over preference for this duo, Alun: I always prefer natural colouring and I am not sure which the bill the better.
Always nice to see images from this geologically very active part of Skye.
Thanks guys. That dawn played havoc with colour. The raws themselves combine oranges and cyans in a way I've never seen in any other landscape I've taken.
Wonderful captures,v2 is my favoriet ,
Not sitting on the fence. Two great images but for me v1 is the clear winner Alun stunningly good
Much as I love warm everthing, I prefer V1 for more natural looking scene
although I daresay V2 was just as real.
Awesome image and scenery.
Amazing warm light, fantastic image!
v2 for me alun but both are stunning captures
Beautiful landscapes lovely warmth in two. Peter.
Both processed very well, but V1 for me. I think the sky is more dramatic and colouring on the landscape is more natural.
Two wonderful landscape images. I pefer V1, as I think the light and shadows are more dramatic. But both outstanding.
Both are great Alun but I'm edging towards V2 as I prefer the sky
Fantastic Light Alun..well done
A very good capture Alun irrespective of any comparison.
It is a good exercise though so if I were to be picky I'd opt for elements from each.... Sky - I'd keep the more natural looking sky from V2 but combine it with the portion of warm light on the left hand side of V1. Land - I'd keep everthing in the fore and mid ground from V1 as it has much more impact and natural looking contrast plus the haze from V2 on the left hand side is distracting. I particularly love the light and detail on the facing slope of the hill/mountain (whatever you call it) just beyond the 2nd lake/loch or whatever you call it - I'm from East Anglia and we don't have those strange things here
Either way, a cracking shot!
I prefer v2 it looks sortof more natural.
they are both very stunning,thought!
V1 for me. Very nice.
V1 has the drama, contrast and colour impact so I can see why you led with it. The colour on the land looks more natural to my eyes which I also prefer. A strikingly beautiful image thanks to the dramatic light.
Gorgeous shot !!......lovely light & colors.....but prefer V1 as per Dave (Whiterose) !!
Thanks. Your comments and reasoning are very welcome. Being somewhat of a purist I can honestly say I've never replaced a sky in my life but as these were taken only a few frames away from each other perhaps I'll have a go at combining the two as per Barney's suggestion. Very grateful to Tom for his UA - cheers, m8
Difficult, but for me V2 shades it
Wowser!!! Wanna boot it!!! But will have to wait till tomorrow!!!
stunning views and beautiful colours, both done extremely well, nice one Alun.
V2 for me Alun. A more natural sky, warmer land and a better depth through the scene.
Sometimes in the early morning the colours are nearer to V2 but whatever you did has opened the shadows and the walls have lost the wonderful shadows and that excellent definition.
Hands down for V1 every time.
Both shots are superb and the light glorious but I tend to lean towards v1 as I like the darker colder light.
stunning light and v1.
Fantastic shot Alun. I prefer the color of v1. It just seems a little more varied and balanced.
Just came back to boot this... and this was what I got;
