Another day, another Provenal hilltop town...

This is the much-photographed town of Gordes, taken from what appears to be the standard viewpoint, a couple of hours after dawn. Just after I packed up my gear a coachload of Japanese tourists pulled up and swamped the place. Just as well I got there first as faffing around with a 5x4 in the midst of a seething mass of digicam-wielding tourists whilst trying to ensure none of my gear got trampled would not have been much fun...

As ever, this needs to be seen LARGE, if you can.

By far the best shot I've ever seen of Gordes. Beautiful colours and detail and the composition is excellent. One of your best Jools (and that's saying summat!)

Thanks everyone!

Chris, thanks for that. Doesn't seem to be doing so well click-wise, though.

I'm rather proud of this one as the tranny is a real pleasure to behold - the level of detail is truly awesome. Having to reduce it to a mere 500 pixels on the long side (900 on the large version) is criminal but what can I do?

Wonderful comp and detail, I know even at this size! If I had a nitpick it would be the harsh light on the rock on the LHS which is a little distracting but otherwise absolutely superb! I bet the tranny is stunning.

Thanks Mark!

Yes you're right. That highlight got a little blown-out when scanning. I felt cropping it out would upset the comp so I tried to disguise it as best I could... Wink

julian just lovely in every aspect.

Paul

Lovely view: I agree with your observation above about the lhs of the image; it would appear unbalanced if you were to crop this out.
