Today I went out to spruce up one of the feeding stations I go out to. Out came the spade & in went a dead tree trunk with the aim to attract a pair of Great Spotted Woodpeckers that I have seen in the area.
At 3pm with light fading fast in came the male bird & one shot was managed before he quickly flew off.
Conditions were dull so fill in flash was used, this probably contributed to him flying off like he did. Now the feeding area is re-established, all I need is good light rather than having to use flash.
More dof would of been nice, maybe next time when the light improves.
