Good Morning

So here is a second installment on Granddads Pride. I took this shot after she had been out all day and was a bit easier to get her to sit still; problem was she was getting to relaxed and ready for her nap. Again I liked this shot better in Black and White versus the color version. I am however also posting the color version. Both have a description of how I took the shot as well as how I processed each.

Studio equipment:

1. (2) Studio lamps angled on left side, one on right side of my granddaughter.
2. (2) Remote flash stands, one angled to flash the background and the other angled to bounce off the ceiling overhead.
3. Studio White background.
4. Small bean bag chair with canvas draped over.

Camera Setup:

• Location: Basement Studio, Middletown Delaware
• Special: Flash and direct lighting gear
• Tripod: Yes
• Camera: Canon 5D
• Lens: Canon 28-135mm
• Focal Len: 117mm
• Flash: Yes
• Exposure Mode: Manual
• Metering Mode: Spot
• White Balance: Auto
• Exposure: 0
• Shutter: 1/80
• F Stop: F 5.6
• ISO: 640

Morning Greg, a lovely shot of a very pretty little girl. You must be a proud grandad. Both the colour and mono looks good to me, I love the way you have caught her looking down. It made me smile.
John.

This is such an adorable image, Greg. I especially love that silky hair tumbling around her shoulders. Totally huggable.

I appreciate your view on the choice between mono and colour Greg but this beautiful child just cries out for colour- IMHO !

A Lovely portrait Greg, she's a little beauty. Nice work with the lighting. Both shots look great but I think the coloured version brings out the silkiness and shine of her lovely hair better.

Greg, another charming shot of your granddaughter. I agree with you in the choice of the b&w over the colour version. In the colour version the strong red tartan detracts from the subject.

Stuart

Excellent work Greg and just as it looks like she is about to have that little nap.

You captured a lovely moment Greg. I am no expert on portraits but I think your processing has just smoothed the skin tones a little too much. A little charmer though.

LOVELY

And so you should be proud Greg, she is beautiful. You have captured her beautifully, a shot to treasure.

Incidentally, there is a great resemblance to her grandmother here!
