A big thank you to everyone who commented and voted on my last upload, also a special thank you to Trev_B,dark_lord,Glostopcat,and Len1950 for their UA's,very much appreciated,

This shot was quite difficult to get,but was great fun trying, the shot was got by prefocusing in auto focus between the point the squirrel would jump through, change to manual focus thus locking the focus, then try and time it to catch the squirrel jumping across each perch, the image is not quite as sharp as i would have liked but like all action photography it's about the light, when i return to this site i will make sure i have a cable release to avoid camera shake,i would also try mirror lock up,

Have a great new years eve and stay off the vino,John.

Well caught - I just love it! We have a squirrel who visits to eat the bird food but is very nervous. I have several shots of his back legs!!!

This is a fabulous capture John, admittedly not pin sharp but sharp enough my friend and worthy of a lot more attention than has been shown here! The backdrop is beautiful, well done mucker.

A happy and prosperous 2014 to yourself. Anne, and Lee!

John, if I may be of assistance. The secret of these is the shutter speed (and accuracy of the pre-focus of course). Believe it or not, and I and another photographer did an awful lot of experimentation last year, the key to sharp images was a shutter speed of 1/4000th second.

We tried all sorts of variation of aperture and shutter speed, but both of us found consistently sharper shots at 1/4000th. He used the pre-focus technique, but I decided on a form of pre-focussing, but following the squirrel across the gap that it was jumping.

Thank you very much Cheryl,I now realise my iso of 1250 was not high enough for the given light we had,I do value your comments very highly and I have taken them on board for my next visit,

Happy new year to too,John.
