The Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopus Major)
Not seen too many of these this year so I was rather pleased to bag this one a couple of days ago.By the look of that great red cap he is very much a juvenile. I quite like the shot but unfortunately he was posed in a rather shaded area and although I would have liked to get just a tad more light on him it just would not happen.
I hope you will like him.
My grateful thanks, as ever, for the very generous c/c's given to the Otter. Many thanks.

Ron

Nice and clear looking very relaxed Noted the catch light in the eye! I have had at least one or two every week in my garden until the nuthatches decided to nest in one of my nest boxes. These aggressive little blighters kept on attacking the wood peckers so they went somewhere else. Good picture.

Light. The photographer's friend - or - nemisis, Ron..?!
It's still a good image and definitely a juvenile.
Well done for capturing him.
