Two here for the price of one! V2 is another much brighter bird, both taken with my 150-500mm Sigma lens and with the tripod.

Barb (Barbanna) and I practising with the new lens together, and swapping ideas.

V2 is not as focused I don't think ..but you may know better? But he is a beautiful colour...ready for a wife!

Thank you everyone for yesterdays comments and clicks, very grateful.

Take care of each other
Lillian

Getting the hang of the new lens. A great capture, I can't see a v2. The only slight problem is the cheek white is slightly blown, always difficult in quite bright light.
Steve.

Ah-ha v2, I was too quick. The colour is much warmer and suits the subject better. A lovely shot, still slightly blown on the cheek though.

Although V1 is better focused, Lillian, I prefer V2 for the colours. Two super images.

Excellent captures, Lillian. The cheeks are very slightly over-exposed, but the detail and colour is excellent in both images. Carol

damn I lost my message being nosey looking at your exif data, I notice you are set exp comp 0.00 you may find it better to set this at -0.3 or even -0.7 you need to play a little with the exp comp as while these are good shots they are a little too bright

Both very nice images of the GTs. Prefer the colours of V2 but the focus in V1 is indeed better. Enjoying seeing your progress with the new toy! Hope life goes better with you? George is enjoying his "freedom" all be it with 2 sticks for now.

Showing some lovely detail with #1 Lillian and I think #2 is only a bit soft where it's turned it's head; do prefer the warm tones of #2 though.
Seeing these, it's also looking like you've only just got enough light, uing ISO 1000, and maximum aperture, so in better light the results will improve further with improved IQ from the sensor and the lens will probably be better stopped down a touch to f8 too.

Think you have it about right Lillian V1 better for focus and V2 much better for a natural colour. Might be worth checking on your White Balance too.Changing the balance to suit the light conditions is always worth the effort.

I prefer the more natural colouring of V2 - V1 seems to have an unnatural blue colour cast. Two lovely captures, though I'm no expert at bird photography, not something I do (haven't got the patience Wink).

V2 for me Lillian, the colour seems more natural. V1 is probably sharper but the colour seems a little harsh. I learn a lot from reading all the other comments - and I do need to keep learning. Take care.

Two super captures, Lillian Smile. As said above, V1 is beautifully sharp, though the overall colour is rather blue. The focussing in V2 is slightly out, but think the colour in this is lovely. So, think it will have to behalf a vote for each!

I also like the focus of v1 but the colors of v2.
I wonder if both were shot with the same white balance, v1 seems like bright light and v2 seems like cloudy WB.

2 Lovely shots Lillian. I found setting the WB to cloudy made colours better
V1 looks a bit blue, or if you shoot raw try to warm a bit. Its not easy to get used to a new lens,i find f8 iso 400 speed 500 works best for my sigma 120-400. Hope this helps.

Hi Lillian, what Ann is saying in a round about way is that the shots are over exposed. Both a little soft on focus but it looks as though you have done well choosing a different white balance for V2, this is a point I raised on your earlier shot and pleased you took the advice on board, colours look good,
Geoff.
