Shot of Green Hairstreak on a local nature reserve this am in the early morning sun. Trying to preserve the brightness and still capture that metallic turquoise /irridescent emerald colouration which makes these seem like little jewels.
A beautiful butterfly and good dof and well done on capturing the fern too.
I really like the composition of this image. Great detail, colour and background as well. Lovely.
Great colours and detail.
Thanks folks. Comments appreciated.
superb capture well spotted great colour
what a delight to capture, love it P
Excellent closeup; good detail and colour and I love the sort of victory pose
Amazing colours, looks almost irridescent
Lovely detailed capture and excellent dof
Love the young fern frond , you've caught the irredescence of the Hairstreak really well.
A real beauty.
An awesome shot. Great work!
Warm regards, Iain.
OMG, fantastic image!
The contrasting background helps a great deal to show off the fabtastic greens of the hairstreak - mine always seem to be surrounded by green and get lost a tad!
Thanks folks for comments.
The detail is amazing and I like the way you've left room for the butterfly to breathe... the composition is particularly good.
The out of focus part of the grass stem is distracting in the larger version... I would suggest cropping just a little more to make this less obvious.
Also your good intentions to "preserve the brightness" have resulted in a certain lack of contrast on the butterfly. You could really make the butterfly much more the subject of attention by reducing the brightness on and around it and increasing the contrast a little.
It's a shot that's worthy of this much attention!
Very fine work indeed!
Thanks everyone for the comments. Always nice to have some honest critique!
Nice capture with an interesting plant...
