Shot of Green Hairstreak on a local nature reserve this am in the early morning sun. Trying to preserve the brightness and still capture that metallic turquoise /irridescent emerald colouration which makes these seem like little jewels.

I really like the composition of this image. Great detail, colour and background as well. Lovely.

The detail is amazing and I like the way you've left room for the butterfly to breathe... the composition is particularly good.
The out of focus part of the grass stem is distracting in the larger version... I would suggest cropping just a little more to make this less obvious.
Also your good intentions to "preserve the brightness" have resulted in a certain lack of contrast on the butterfly. You could really make the butterfly much more the subject of attention by reducing the brightness on and around it and increasing the contrast a little.
It's a shot that's worthy of this much attention!
Very fine work indeed!
Tim
