I was trying to get a photograph that showed the sheer numbers of Starlings that group together at Gretna Green. This is my 18mm lens and I didn't get them all in the shot.
Amazing to see from underneath as long as you wear old clothes.
This is just behind the Gretna Service Station , park in the Service area, walk up towards the filling station on the road out, on the left hand side are a couple of no entry signs, you need the one with 'no unauthorised access'. Walk down the path and you should get good views.
They are fickle and do sometimes roost on the other side of the motorway.
I normally wait up on the bridge that crosses the motorway until they've decided where to display.

Hi Merl, I like the pastel colours of the sky and inclusion of the moon. For whatever reason, a massive flock chose one of the car parks at work to swarm over some years ago. It was great to watch, but all our cars got filthy everyday!!

Curiosity made me open this shot as looking at the thumbnail it looked like a frame full of grain.

I am pleased I open as this is a wonderful shot.

if I was American I'd say Wow, Awesome! (well, I just did anyway Smile ) You've captured the sheer numbers very well with this approach, and the moon really makes it
