Apologies to those who voted and commented on the owl upload, but to me it was sub standard with too much noise and lacking in detail.

Just taken this from the back door with the 800mm. Shame as to the left of the moon tonight Jupiter is very visible, just could expose for it as well.

V2 is for Adrian, another quick shot in the hall, see what I mean Ade Smile Lit with a single EX580 II and softbox on camera

This is one of the clearest and most detailed moon shots I've seen without going to a telescope. Excellent shot.

Alan.

I'm so annoyed Alan, as I cannot find my 1.4x Sad

My wife told me it was Pluto. And I've got a couple of shots of it.
Nowhere near as detailed as yours. (just white blobs) But I don't have the kit that you have GrinGrin
Nice to see it done properly

Pluto at the moment is only visible in the Southern Hemisphere and to the West.

Three fantastic shots Richard. V1 is the best moon shot I've ever seen on EPZ. Love the ginger Tom on V2 and Your 4 moon shots on V3 is superb. I was looking at the moon tonight and noticed the star 'Aldebaran' It was twinkling and showing the most beautiful colours. I have never seen this before. I was quite fascinated.

Great shot of the handsome chap in ginger fur.
But the moon is fantastic! I dug out my own moon shot from last year. 500mm +2x TC didn't come out half as good.

May I ask how you managed to get it so contrasty?

V3 is not a photograph but a copied diagram from the internet to show Jack that it is Jupiter and not Pluto that is showing to the left of the moon at the moment. I will try tomorrow evening with convertors on my 800mm to get them both in and detailed hopefully but exposure is the problem to show Jupiter so I might take 2 individual images and then stack them.

I exposed for it Annette with a flash meter and then experimented with different settings close to the reading.
Processed in CS5 and sharpened and desaturated in RAW
Then adjusted selected colour and adjusted neutrals to give it the effect of a red filter. Then adjusted levels
Hope that helps.

God I wish I could message hope you see this Annette Smile
